Sweet Dreams is a side job in which a street dealer named Stefan sells V a braindance that turns out to be a trap. Stefan stands on a yellow line near the Cherry Blossom Market fast travel point in Japantown, Westbrook, boasting of the rawest braindances in the city. One session in his rig, and V wakes up in a Scavenger hideout, stripped of gear.

Story

The Rawest BDs

The journal sells the idea with a grin. Everyone knows the most gut twisting, brain blitzing braindances are never sold in stores, but on the streets, outside normal circulation. Stefan is the proof. He seems to have the rawest braindances in the city, and they are not for the faint of heart. Is V ready to take the rush to the next level?

Stefan sells V an unlabelled braindance, and then asks for more money to use a compatible wreath that he keeps in the building behind him. If V tries to run the recording on V's own gear, it fails, as Stefan warned: the data is in an older format that V's set cannot read. V can then ask Stefan for a refund, or pay the extra.

Waking Up

If V pays, Stefan leads V into the building, and V activates his rig. Soon after the braindance starts, V passes out. V wakes in a familiar place: the bathroom where V and Jackie found Sandra Dorsett in The Rescue. This time, V is the intended victim. Johnny wastes no time mocking V for falling for such an obvious trick.

The Escape

V's weapons, clothes and eddies are gone, but V still has quickhacks and cyberware. Scavengers fill the hideout. V's gear sits in a locker in the main room. Once out, V goes back to the market to settle things with Stefan. He makes up a weak excuse and hands back the money.

The Braindance

  1. Talk to Stefan near the Cherry Blossom Market fast travel point and buy his braindance.
  2. Ask about the corrupted recording if V tries it first, then pay to use his wreath or ask for a refund.
  3. Follow Stefan into the nearby building and use his braindance player.

The Hideout

  1. Wake in the bathroom of the Scavenger hideout.
  2. Take out the Scavenger fixing a wall just outside, take his weapon and hide his body in the bathtub.
  3. Sneak or fight through the hideout. Quickhacks and cyberware still work.
  4. Find the locker on the right hand side of the main room and take back V's equipment.
  5. Escape the hideout.

Stefan

  1. Follow the marker back to the market and confront Stefan.
  2. Spare him or kill him.

Choices

Stefan's Fate

Both dialogue answers let Stefan live. Drawing a weapon and aiming at him opens a third choice: he drops to his knees and begs for mercy, and V can walk away or shoot him. Either way, the job ends.

Rewards

Completing Sweet Dreams pays €$ 25,600 or 32,000, 2,303 experience and 3,453 Street Cred.

Stefan returns the money V paid. The job also pays experience and Street Cred.

Tips

Arm cyberware such as Gorilla Arms or Mantis Blades makes the escape much easier, as V starts with no weapons. Grab the gear from the locker before leaving. Stefan does not appear while I Fought the Law is active.
