The Ash of War: Barricade Shield is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Standard affinity and the Barricade Shield skill. It turns up early in a run, in the Weeping Peninsula.
Barricade Shield focuses energy into the shield and hardens it for 10 seconds, so that heavier blows glance off while guarding. During the buff, blocking costs far less stamina, and most one-handed weapon attacks bounce off the shield and briefly stun the attacker. The activation itself counts as a block, so it can be used safely mid-fight. It suits shield users who want to turtle through long combos, especially with medium shields that already have full physical guard.
Stats
It grants the Standard affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood or Occult. The skill costs 12 FP. It fits Small Shield, Medium Shield, Greatshield and Thrusting Shield.

Skill
Cast it just before a long attack string or in a lull between blows, since it cannot be used right after being staggered on guard. The skill can be reactivated while guarding, so the buff can be refreshed the moment it runs out. It works best on small and medium shields with high guard, and greatshields gain a smaller stamina reduction.
