The Black Blade is an Erdtree incantation in Elden Ring. It is available within the first few hours of a run.
Black Blade is power gleaned from the remembrance of Maliketh, whose blade once held Destined Death. It conjures a spectral black blade for a leaping, spinning slash that emits a wave of light, and one stronger follow-up is allowed. Only the wave applies the Destined Death debuff, cutting the target's maximum HP for a short time and sapping a little more HP, and the debuff stacks with either Destined Death or Blade of Death for a bigger reduction, but not both. It deals holy damage, cannot be charged and cannot be cast on horseback. It suits faith builds that want a lunging melee-range incantation with a lingering maximum HP penalty.
Effect
Conjures Maliketh's black blade for a leaping spinning slash that sends out a wave of light, with one follow-up; the wave cuts the target's maximum HP by 10% for 15 seconds and briefly drains HP. Each cast costs 26 FP and 44 stamina and takes up two memory slots.

Notes
Only the wave applies the maximum HP reduction, not the blade itself.
"Power gleaned from the remembrance of Maliketh. Caster creates an illusory black blade, then leaps forward to deliver a spinning slash that emits a wave of light. This can be followed up with one additional attack. This blade was once imbued with Destined Death. In addition to dealing damage, it reduces foes' maximum HP and continues to sap their current HP for a very short time."
