The Serpent Bow is a Bow in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Caelid, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

Lightest bow in the class at 3.5 and the only one that adds status of its own: a base 15 poison buildup on every arrow it fires. Its D Arcane adds no damage: it only raises poison, bleed and sleep buildup, and does nothing for scarlet rot. Itself notes the Black Bow or a Barrage light bow applies status faster at shorter range, so this is the long-range poison option rather than the fastest one.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E, Dex at D and Arc at D, so Dex and Arc are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 8, Dex 15 and Arc 11 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

Malformed bow in the shape of a pair of poisonous snakes. Imbues arrows with poison through pagan magic, revealing its true worth when used with poison-infused arrows. Used by assassins known as the Formless Serpents.
