The Idus Sword is a Light Greatsword in Elden Ring. It has the highest physical attack of any light greatsword in the game. It becomes available partway through a run, in Liurnia of the Lakes.

The Idus Sword is a light greatsword, a blade as long as a greatsword yet very light thanks to its remarkable making, the signature weapon of the land of Idus, which can be swung as swiftly as a straight sword with cultivated form. It is the starting weapon of the Idus Knight class and can also be found in Liurnia of the Lakes, north of the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace near the Laskyar Ruins, under a tree guarded by two Revenant Followers. It has higher base damage than the Milady but weaker scaling, needs only 10 Strength and 15 Dexterity, and accepts Ashes of War, including Wing Stance. Status affinities pair well with the multi-hit heavy, charged, running and jumping heavy attacks of its class. It suits a character who wants a fast greatsword-length blade from the very start.

Skill

Impaling Thrust costs 9 FP. The wielder gathers power, then lunges forward into a strong piercing thrust that punches through an enemy's guard. Most of the damage gets past a raised shield, which makes it a reliable answer to turtling enemies and players. The thrust can be parried. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.

Played with shield and blade early on, blocking and punishing with block counters and Impaling Thrust, and later as a fluid multi-hit light greatsword.
