The Silver Grooved Shield is a silver shield whose expert craftsmanship makes up for its weight, its elegant grooves recalling the faraway Erdtree's principles: many boughs above, many roots below, till the world knows its blessing. It is the starting shield of the Idus Knight class and is also sold by the Nomadic Merchant camped north of the Bellum Church Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes. It is the lightest medium shield with full physical negation, at 3 weight, though its guard boost is on the low side, and it needs 9 Strength and 12 Dexterity. It carries No Skill as its default, so the main weapon's skill stays available from the very start. It suits Strength and Dexterity knights who block and counter.

It blocks all physical damage, and against the elements it holds up best to magic, at 52%, and worst to lightning, at 24%. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.

Blocks attacks and punishes with block counters, buffing the main weapon with Sacred Blade between exchanges.
