The Ritual Thrusting Shield is a Thrusting Shield in Elden Ring. It becomes available partway through a run, in Caelid.

The Ritual Thrusting Shield is a combined weapon and shield that lets the wielder attack and guard at the same time, an armament once used in rites of combat honoring the Erdtree and now lost to time. It lies on a corpse just behind the Great Jar inside the Caelid Colosseum. It has slightly higher base damage than the Dueling Shield but weaker scaling and guard boost, and it can be obtained far earlier than the other thrusting shields. Shield Strike attacks with the shield, and repeated inputs allow up to three follow-up attacks. It suits a Strength and Dexterity character who wants a thrusting shield in the early and middle game.

How to Get Ritual Thrusting Shield Guide

On a corpse by the bleachers inside the Caelid Colosseum, behind the Great-Jar at the main entrance. Reach it from the Deep Siofra Well Site of Grace: Stonesword Keys open the lift to the surface, and beating the Great-Jar's warriors opens the doors.

Skill

Shield Strike costs 0 FP. The skill lets an off-hand shield perform its own chain of light attacks instead of the main weapon's skill, with repeated inputs carrying the chain through several strikes. It costs no FP. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.

Guarding

With a guard boost of 55, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 45. Only two thrusting shields guard better, topping out at 64. It lets 18% of physical damage through, and against the elements it holds up best to lightning, at 52%, and worst to fire, at 35%. If a block empties the stamina bar, the guard breaks and a critical hit can follow.

Build

Played as an early block-and-poke weapon: guard through enemy attacks, then counter with pierce thrusts and Shield Strike combos.
