Amber is a glimmering orange material from the Shivering Isles, brought into Skyrim by the Saints and Seducers Creation. Two pieces smelt into one Amber Ingot, which builds a light armour set stronger than Dragonscale.
Where To Find It
Amber grows inside hollowed stumps in the Root Tunnels beneath the Solitude Sewers, and Khajiit caravan traders begin stocking it once Ri'saad has passed on his note about new wares. There is no vein and no way to mine it.
Before You Can Use It
The recipes come from Evethra's Journal, which a miscellaneous quest hands over after you read the Note on Amber and Madness Ore. On top of that the armour needs the Glass Smithing perk, so 70 Smithing in practice.
Only the raw amber is ever sold. Every ingot in your inventory went through a smelter first.
