Flint Axe is the first real step up from stone, and the Flint it needs washes up along every shoreline and riverbank in the Meadows. It deals 20 slash and 30 chop damage. At 50 total damage it ranks 14th among axes, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.
How to Craft
Craft it at a level 1 Workbench with:
- 4x Wood: Chopped from any tree.
- 6x Flint: Picked up along river banks and shorelines.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | All biomes | - | spawn Wood

| Flint | Meadows | - | spawn Flint

When to Use It
This is gear for the opening hours. Everything it takes comes out of the Meadows, so it suits a character who has just stood up.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. All other figures on this page are for quality 1, so use this table to see where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Chop (trees) | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Workbench (Level 1) | 20 | 30 | 100 | |
| 2 | Workbench (Level 2) | 25 | 33 | 130 |
|
| 3 | Workbench (Level 3) | 30 | 36 | 160 |
|
| 4 | Workbench (Level 4) | 35 | 39 | 190 |

Properties
It is a straight upgrade that opens no new trees. It deals 50 percent more damage than the Stone Axe for one more stamina, but it still cannot cut Birch or Oak. The Bronze Axe is the one that opens those.
Flint is shore loot. It washes up along the water in the Meadows, so you can craft this on day one at a Workbench without mining anything.
Notes
- Chop damage applies to trees, not creatures, which is why a tree falls to an axe and nothing else.
- The trees an axe can fell depend on its tier. Stone and flint manage Beech, Fir and Pine. Bronze and iron add Birch, Oak and the Ancient Tree. Only the Black Metal Axe and the Jotun Bane cut Yggdrasil Shoots and Scorched Trees.
- The first hit of a two-handed combo is by far the slowest at 1.58 seconds. The second and third take about 0.92 and 0.7 seconds and carry triple damage between them.
