When the charred close in faster than you can swing at them, Nidhögg the Primal is the jade-set blade that pins them in place in the Ashlands. It deals 135 slash and 10 poison. With 145 total damage it ranks 7th among swords, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. In the Ashlands that matters more than it sounds. Morgen resist blunt, fire, pierce and slash but take full poison damage, so against them the poison lands in full. Poison damage also hurts Cultist and Ulv more than most mobs.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 4 black forge from:
- 1x Nidhögg: made at a black forge.
- 6x Flametal: smelted from flametal ore in a blast furnace.
- 1x Jade: found in the charred fortresses of the Ashlands.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nidhögg | Ashlands | Black Forge | spawn SwordNiedhogg
| |
| Flametal | Ashlands | Blast Furnace | spawn FlametalNew

| Jade | Ashlands | - | spawn GemstoneGreen

When to Use It
Late game. Flametal comes from the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other figure on this page is for quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Poison | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black forge (Level 4) | 135 | 10 | 200 | |
| 2 | Black forge (Level 5) | 141 | 10 | 250 | |
| 3 | Black forge (Level 6) | 147 | 10 | 300 | |
| 4 | Black forge (Level 7) | 153 | 10 | 350 |

Properties
You pick this sword for the immobilise, not the poison. Jade adds 10 poison and a 20% chance to immobilise for 10 seconds. Immobilise stops a target from moving and turning, but it can still attack, block and roll, so it pins something in front of you rather than disabling it.
The poison is close to wasted here. Poison is the damage type the most creatures are immune to, and the Ashlands in particular has little that cares about it. Next to the Thundering variant's unblockable 75, the 10 poison is a rounding error.
Notes
- An immobilised Morgen can still lunge, because its movement is part of the attack animation, and immobilise does not stop that.
