When the Mistlands start sending Seekers at you out of the fog, the Padded Cuirass is the chest piece you want between them and your ribs. It has 26 armour, or 32 fully upgraded, and ranks 4th among chest pieces. Worn with the rest of the Padded Armor set, it is part of a 79 armour rating, which turns a 100-damage hit into 32.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 2 Forge from:
- 10x Iron: smelted from Scrap Iron in a Smelter.
- 20x Linen Thread: spun from Flax at a Spinning Wheel.

When to Use It
This is mid-game gear from the Plains tier, the biome after Moder. Its Linen Thread is spun from Plains Flax, and its Iron comes from the Swamp.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station one step higher than the last. The stats elsewhere on this page are for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits on the ladder:

Properties
- -5% Movement speed
- Movement -5%: what wearing it costs you in speed and in the cost of a dodge roll.
Notes
- The movement speed penalties of chest and leg armor add up, so a full heavy set is 10% slower even before a shield is drawn.
- Armor reduces physical, fire, frost and lightning damage, but it does nothing against poison or spirit damage.
- Every craftable armor piece except Rag Armor gains 2 armor with each upgrade.
