You can spin nothing until Moder is dead, because the Spinning Wheel needs an Artisan Table behind it. Even then, Linen Thread waits on Flax carried home from the Fuling villages of the Plains.
How to Get It
Flax only grows wild in the tended patches inside Fuling villages, so your first harvest means walking into a Plains village and dealing with the fulings, their berserkers and whatever lox is standing nearby. Pick it by hand, then replant it with a Cultivator, and remember that flax ripens on Plains soil and nowhere else. After that the wheel does the work, turning each flax into thread slowly and without fuel.
