Seal Blubber is the insulating fat of the Seal, the creature adapted to the northern waters. Unlike most raw meat you do not grill it. It bakes in a Stone Oven for 50 seconds into Cooked Seal Blubber, which gives 60 health and 20 stamina for 20 minutes. Raw, it also goes into Seal Meat Soup and Unbaked Poteitr. It weighs 1 and stacks to 20.
How to Get It
A seal drops two pieces of blubber, four at one star and eight at two, along with the same amount of Seal Pelt. Seals lie on the coasts of the Deep North and in some of its abandoned villages, and they never fight back. Baby seals drop a single piece, one time in ten.
The Stone Oven holds ten wood and bakes four items at once. Each wood burns for 2,000 seconds, so a full load keeps the oven going for about five and a half hours. Baking takes about 50 seconds, and anything left in for more than 100 burns into coal.
Two pieces with two Kale and two Ice make Seal Meat Soup at a level 7 Cauldron: 110 health and 37 stamina for 30 minutes, joint highest health of any food. One piece goes into Unbaked Poteitr with two Kale, a Poteitr and two Oat Flour, and that bakes into an eitr meal of 100 eitr. Cooked on its own it is the cheapest of the three: 60 health from a single piece and no cauldron at all.
Notes
- Seal Meat Soup and Unbaked Poteitr need the blubber raw, so Cooked Seal Blubber will not do.
- A Stone Oven needs an Artisan Table in range to build, and it only shows up in the build menu once Iron has been smelted.
