Seal Pelt is the waterproof fur of the Seals that haul out on the shores of the Deep North, thick enough to keep the animal warm and dry. It is used all over the biome. The Vanguard Hood and trousers, the Cape of the Caller, the Moose Saddle and every Ember Charge take it, and four make a Sealskin Rug. It weighs half a unit and stacks to 50.
How to Get It
A seal drops two pelts, four at one star and eight at two, along with the same amount of Seal Blubber and, one time in ten, its trophy. Seals lie on the coasts of the Deep North and in some of its abandoned villages, one or two at a time, and they never fight back. With 400 health they take a few blows, and they cannot be staggered.
Baby seals share the same beaches in groups of one to three, but they never have stars and only drop blubber, one time in ten, so the adults are the ones to hunt.
Notes
- The Seal Blubber that drops with it bakes into Cooked Seal Blubber in a Stone Oven and goes into Seal Meat Soup and Unbaked Poteitr.
- Seals and ice sheets are both found along the Deep North coast.
Seal Pelt Crafting Recipes
Two pelts and one ember make ten Ember Charges, so every Petrified Gammeltroll you break starts on a beach. The Vanguard Hood takes 5 to craft and 14 by quality 3, and the Vanguard trousers take 4 and 10. The Cape of the Caller takes 6, and 9 by quality 2, its cap, and the Moose Saddle takes 5. Finishing all of it takes about 38 pelts, plus two for every ten charges.
What the pelt buys is mostly mobility and magic. The Vanguard set it starts is the medium armour of the biome: 34 a piece, with a set bonus that makes running and dodging cheaper and adds a tenth to health regeneration, stamina regeneration and pierce damage. The Cape of the Caller is the mage's cape, with 12 armour, frost resistance, 20% more eitr regeneration and cheaper dodges. The Moose Saddle is made at a level 2 Black Forge with four Bloodgold, five Timberwood and fifteen Linen Thread, and it turns a tamed moose into a mount. The Sealskin Rug is decoration for a hall.
