Fugas is a huge Sylvan, one of the Relicts, and a servant of the Crones. It guards the way to the peak of Bald Mountain in Velen during the Crones' sabbath. It is fought late in the story, in the main quest Bald Mountain.

Lore

Fugas held a very important post during the Crones' sabbath. It was the guard who kept anyone unwanted from reaching the peak. Folk call creatures of its kind "devils", but Fugas was nothing like a playful puck or a clever trickster. It was about the size of an overgrown troll and had a troll's lack of subtlety. It did its job with all the care of a Novigrad bouncer.

Trying to stop a witcher turned out to be Fugas' last and dumbest idea. It ended both its life and its fine career in the Crones' service.

Sylvans and their close relatives, the yakshas, are very rare woodland creatures. They look like a cross between a goat and a plump man. Most of them pose little danger. They keep their contact with humans to harmless tricks and to eating crops from the fields. Fugas was the exception.

Behaviour

Fugas lives in the caves at the foot of Bald Mountain and answers to the Crones. During the sabbath, crowds of peasants gather on the mountain for the feast. Fugas stands at the entrance to the path up the mountain. The way to the summit is closed to anyone without Thecla's permission, and Fugas is there to enforce it.

Weaknesses

Coat the silver sword with Relict Oil. Like other sylvans, Fugas is weak to Igni. Samum and Devil's Puffball bombs also work well against it. After the fight, loot the body for the Bald Mountain Key.

Fugas Map Location and Quest Guide

Finish Blood on the Battlefield to start Bald Mountain.
Climb the road to Bald Mountain and talk to the guard and the peasant at the top of the steps.
Find Thecla in her tent and ask permission to climb the mountain.
Dive into the pool and use Witcher Senses to find the coin Thecla threw into the water.
Give the coin to Thecla.
Travel the path toward the peak and meet Fugas at the entrance to the mountain.
Defeat Fugas and loot the Bald Mountain Key from its body.

Fugas is fought in Bald Mountain, a main quest in Velen that follows Blood on the Battlefield. Ciri wants revenge on Imlerith, the general of the Wild Hunt who killed Vesemir. She learns that Imlerith will attend the Crones' sabbath on Bald Mountain, and the witcher goes with her.

Thecla, the woman who decides who may climb the mountain, accepts Ciri at once but rejects the witcher. To earn the right to climb, the witcher has to pass her test. Thecla throws a coin into a dark pool, and it must be brought back from the bottom. Drowners lurk in the water, and a fiend prowls near the exit. With the coin returned, the way to the peak opens. Fugas waits at the entrance to the mountain and attacks. After the fight, Ciri and the witcher play rock, paper, scissors to decide who faces whom. Ciri takes on the Crones, and the witcher climbs to face Imlerith.
