Freedom is a side job in which Muamar "El Capitan" Reyes sends V after corporate intel on Rayfield, the luxury car maker. It opens after Transmission, Search and Destroy and the first three races of The Beast In Me. The trail leads from a wreck near the Coronado Dam to a construction site in Rancho Coronado, Santo Domingo, and to a car that belongs to someone El Capitan badly wants to avoid.
Story
Thieves
Johnny rants in the journal about Rayfield, every capitalist's dream for longer than anyone cares to remember. Corpos all think they own innovation, and pat themselves on the back for it. In truth, every piece of tech, from the latest Kiroshi optics to a luxury AV, was once some poor chump's idea, stolen by a corp and squeezed for every last eddie. Corpos are parasites, and the car industry is no different. El Capitan wants V to steal from these thieves, and Johnny says steal away.
The Wreck
El Capitan's coordinates lead to a large pile of wrecked cars near the Coronado Dam. Bodies and burning rubble are scattered around, and Johnny remarks on the mess. Near a research table in the middle of the wreckage lies an engineer, Harry Bell. A shard beside him holds an old conversation between Harry and Arlene Anwyl. Harry worried about an update Arlene was making to one car's AutoDrive system outside the standard protocol, and said it was not worth the risk, given the car's value and its owner. Arlene also mentions where the car is getting its update.
The Construction Site
Private security guards the site, and Arlene runs off as soon as the shooting starts. With the guards gone, V uses a laptop on a table beside the car Harry and Arlene were working on. The moment V does, the car, a Caliburn "Mordred", drives off on its own.
Yorinobu's Car
The files reveal that the Mordred belongs to Yorinobu Arasaka. The data goes to El Capitan, who panics. He tells V to abort and get out at once, as he wants nothing to do with Arasaka's newly crowned emperor. He also tells V, very clearly, not to steal the car.

Choices
Abort or Steal
V can obey El Capitan, abandon the job and leave. Johnny is furious. He calls it a perfect chance to stick it to a corp, wasted. If V steals the Mordred, Johnny is thrilled. It is not exactly an all out rebellion against the corps, he says, but it is one turbocharged middle finger.
Rewards
Completing Freedom rewards Rayfield Caliburn "Mordred" (depending on choices).
Stealing it adds the Caliburn "Mordred" to V's vehicles.
Tips
The only cost of stealing the car is a wanted level, so the free car is worth it. A fast car and a gun make it much easier to stop the Mordred once V finds it. On the workbench with the skeleton key, V also finds a transcript of a talk between Yorinobu and Hellman.
