The Galena GA40xt "Rattler" is V's own beat-up nomad car on the Nomad lifepath. V loses it in the prologue and can win it back much later in the Badlands. It is a small, worn-out all-wheel drive hatchback, and its charm is all in its history. Nomad players want it as a reminder of where V came from. Only a Nomad V can get the Rattler back, in the Act 2 side job These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.
Performance
The Rattler drives all four wheels and is very light. Its engine is small, so it is a modest performer. It handles dirt roads well thanks to its drivetrain.
How to Get Thorton Galena GA40xt "Rattler" Guide
- Play the Nomad lifepath.
- Wait for the Rattler's message after visiting Rogue at the Afterlife during Ghost Town.
- Go to the Municipal Landfill in the Badlands, south of the Medeski Fuel Station.
- Pay Lana or threaten her to keep the car.

Lore
The Rattler began life as a Thorton Galena GA40xt. The Bakker nomad clan rebuilt it heavily, and it became V's car. V drove it in the Nomad prologue to smuggle cargo into Night City, but the run went wrong and V had to abandon the wreck.
The Database is blunt about it. It says the fact the car still drives is a miracle. After years off-road in the desert, nearly every part either creaks or grinds, and the original parts have long since been replaced with scrap and worn rubber. The text ends by calling it a mobile tetanus trap that only someone truly desperate would drive.
Years later, a young woman named Lana Prince finds the wreck and tows it to the Municipal Landfill. She fixes its worst faults and gets its computer running. The car then pings its last registered owner, V.
Notes
- Telling Lana to keep the car loses the Rattler for good.
- A horse decal on the rear and a bulldog bobblehead on the dashboard also appear on V's Hella and the Turbo-R V-Tech.
