The Thorton Galena "Gecko" is a nomad rebuild of the cheapest car in Night City. Nomads turned the humble Galena into a desert machine with tuned engine parts and Militech combat gear. It carries machine guns, which makes it one of the cheapest armed cars V can own. Players who want to try vehicle combat early without spending a fortune should look here first. It has the plain Galena shape but a very different job. The Galena "Gecko" is a mid game purchase on the Autofixer netpage, and it is armed without needing Phantom Liberty.
Performance
The Gecko is a weaponized car with machine guns mounted at the front. The guns fire straight ahead, so the driver aims by pointing the nose of the car at the target. They reload once their ammo runs out. The Autofixer netpage marks armed cars like this one with a weapon icon in the corner of the listing.
CrystalDome glass replaces the normal windows. The tuned engine and nomad parts are what let the Gecko handle the desert roads that would stop the city Galena.
Gearhead from the Technical Ability tree is the key perk for an armed car. It adds vehicle health and gives mounted weapons more damage. It also cuts their lock-on time. Road Warrior from the Cool tree adds weapon damage while the car drifts or is airborne. Fury Road from the Body tree raises collision damage against enemy vehicles.

Lore
The in-game Database says the standard Galena would not survive a day in the desert. With the right aftermarket parts, though, it looks right at home there. The nomads call this altered Galena the Gecko.
The Gecko comes with CrystalDome glass, Militech combat accessories and a cleverly tuned engine. The Database adds that people in the wasteland used to laugh at a Galena. Nobody laughs at the Gecko.
Notes
- The plain Thorton Galena G240 is the city model the Gecko is built from.
