Ghost Town is the main job in which V goes after Anders Hellman, the Arasaka scientist behind the Relic, with the help of Rogue Amendiares and the nomad Panam Palmer. It starts at the Afterlife in Little China after Playing for Time, and leads into the Badlands, to the ghost town of Rocky Ridge and the Sunset Motel. It is the first job of Panam's storyline.

Story

Rogue

The journal sends V to the Afterlife. The place has changed over the years, but one thing never does: for any question that cannot be shaken, someone at the Afterlife will whisper the answer, for the right price. If that someone is Rogue, Johnny would not miss the meeting for the world.

Rogue is Night City's top fixer and Johnny's former lover. When V asks about Hellman, she wants money first. After V pays and waits a day, she hands over a shard. A Kang Tao flying car is carrying an unnamed passenger, thought to be Hellman. To bring it down and question him, V needs a driver: Panam Palmer, a nomad merc. Rogue says V must help Panam get her car back first.

Panam

V meets Panam at the Rancho Coronado freight station and explains the situation. She wants her car back before anything else. Her former partner Nash stole the car and her cargo and plans to sell them in Rocky Ridge. Panam calls her client, Boz, a 6th Street member she used to drive for and calls a good guy, to arrange the handover of the cargo.

The journal notes that every solution comes with its own demands. Panam will only help if V helps her first, which is what Johnny expected from a nomad. Still, he has a good feeling about her.

At the Aldecaldo Camp, V meets Panam's friends Scorpion and Mitch. Saul, the leader of the camp, has ordered them to guard the generators, so they cannot come along, but Mitch lets the pair take any gear they need.

Rocky Ridge

In the ghost town of Rocky Ridge, Panam's plan is to use an old substation to control the traffic lights and confuse the Raffen Shiv gang who hold her car. V scans the power source and the fuse box, restores the power and gets into position. When the Raffen arrive, the lights go on, and V takes the key to Panam's car from a guard outside the bar.

Nash

With the car back, Panam wants to hunt down Nash, who betrayed her trust. V can help her or refuse. If V helps, the two raid the Raffen Shiv hideout at the mines and kill Nash. If V refuses and says that was not the deal, Rogue is pleased with V's professionalism and later rewards V with a car.

The Sunset Motel

Panam drives to the Sunset Motel to meet 6th Street, and hands a package to Boz. Inside, at the bar, she tells V that the package held a drug for cyberpsychos. She talks about her hope of a fresh start in Night City, with Rogue and with new friends. The two rent a room for the night, and the story continues in Lightning Breaks.

The Afterlife

  1. Go to the Afterlife and talk to the bouncer.
  2. Find Rogue in the private room, wait for her to finish talking to Panam, then talk to her.
  3. Return to Rogue with €$ 15,000. Paying her is required.
  4. Sit at the bar and wait until Rogue is ready, then talk to her and take her shard.

Panam

  1. Call Panam Palmer.
  2. Meet Panam near the northern edge of Santo Domingo.
  3. Get into her car and ride to the Aldecaldo Camp.
  4. Talk to Mitch and Scorpion.
  5. Follow Panam, take the box from the tent and place it in the boot.

Rocky Ridge

  1. Ride with Panam to Rocky Ridge and discuss the plan.
  2. Scan the three devices in the area, then the transformer and the power source.
  3. Wait for Panam by the substation.
  4. Take the jumper cables from the car and connect them to the battery.
  5. Restore power in the switchgear building: break the window and climb in.
  6. Get into position and wait for the Raffen Shiv.
  7. Turn on the lights at the intersection on Panam's signal.
  8. Scan and tag the enemies from the high ground.
  9. Get the key to Panam's car from the guard outside the bar's front door, by stealth or by force.
  10. Take Panam's Thorton and drive it to the meeting point.

Nash (optional)

  1. Switch seats with Panam.
  2. Agree to help Panam if desired, and ride to the mines.
  3. Defeat Nash and his people. Long range weapons help thin them out, and Nash carries a strong rifle.
  4. Loot Nash's body for his rifle.

The Sunset Motel

  1. Join Panam and wait for her to finish the deal with Boz from the passenger seat.
  2. Follow Panam into the motel and sit at the bar.
  3. Follow Panam to the room and lie down.

Choices

Helping Panam with Nash

Helping Panam kill Nash starts building the bond that can lead to a romance with a male V. V gets Nash's Iconic rifle, Widow Maker, but has to buy the Quartz "Bandit" car later, and Rogue scolds V mildly for it.

Refusing, and telling Panam that it was not the deal, skips the fight at the mines. Panam is displeased for a moment, but Rogue rewards V's professionalism with a Quartz "Bandit" for free. Neither choice changes Panam's standing with V or her romance in the long run.

The Motel

At the motel, V can flirt by suggesting they share a room. Panam hesitates, then agrees on separate beds.

Rewards

Completing Ghost Town rewards Widow Maker (depending on choices) and Archer Quartz "Bandit" (depending on choices).

Killing Nash gives the Iconic tech precision rifle Widow Maker. Refusing to help with Nash gives the Quartz "Bandit" from Rogue.

After this job, Rogue starts offering gigs. A Nomad V gets a text that starts the side job These Boots Are Made for Walkin'. El Capitan's gig Desperate Measures also opens. Once V reaches Street Cred level 40, a shipping container appears in the tunnel near Rocky Ridge, holding a hidden cache and the Caliburn "Murkmobile" in the side job Murk Man Returns Again Once More Forever.

Tips

Bring €$ 15,000 before heading to the Afterlife, as Rogue will not help without payment. Widow Maker can still be taken from Nash later in Queen of the Highway if V does not kill him here.
