The Mackinaw "Beast" is Claire Russell's black racing pickup, and V drives it in her street races. It is a Thorton Mackinaw tuned with racing suspension, a roaring engine and bulletproof armour. It is a heavy, all-wheel drive truck that is still quick enough to race. Players want it for its story and for a tough truck that can take a beating. V can receive the Beast at the end of Claire's side job chain The Beast in Me, in Act 2.
Performance
The Beast drives all four wheels with a strong engine. It is heavy, but it is tuned to race. Ballistic armour covers the grille, the hood and the doors, which protects the people inside from gunfire.

- Complete The Beast in Me races with Claire.
- In the final race, follow Peter Sampson when he pulls off the course.
- Let the confrontation end, and Claire gives V the Beast.

- Start The Beast in Me at the Afterlife by talking to Claire.
- Race and qualify in the City Center, Badlands and Santo Domingo heats.
- Start The Big Race with Claire as V's partner.
- Keep pace with Peter Sampson until his damaged car pulls off the course.
- Follow Sampson until he crashes, even though this ends the race.
- Get out with Claire and confront him.
- Finish the confrontation, then let Claire drive back to her garage.
- Receive the Beast from Claire, who no longer wants to race.

Lore
Claire Russell, the bartender at the Afterlife, keeps the Beast running herself. She used to race it with her husband Dean, who died in one of Night City's death races. A year later, V drives the Beast for her as she enters the races again and hunts the man she blames.
The Database asks the reader to picture a solid, stable Mackinaw tuned in the devil's own garage. The Beast is faster than the base model, with racing suspension and an engine that puts the factory model to shame. The jet-black paint could make a nun faint in fear.
