The Misbegotten Shortbow is a Light Bow in Elden Ring. It carries the highest physical attack of any light bow in the game.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Limgrave, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Why Players Pick It

Highest physical in the class at +0 and at max and the only light bow with D Strength scaling and Str-over-Dex requirements: 16 Str / 8 Dex. It pays for that with the shortest range in the game, 25 against 29 for every other light bow. It is a 2% drop from Winged Misbegotten near the Ailing Village.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at E, so Str is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 16 and Dex 8 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

A group of three can be found near the Ailing Village, along the cliffs just southeast of the Ailing Village Outskirts Site of Grace.
