Gold Ingot is a smithing material in Skyrim, made at a smelter. Two Gold Ore smelt into one ingot.
Uses
Jewellery only. No armour or weapon in the game takes gold, so its value lies in rings and necklaces sold on for profit.
Tempering consumes one ingot per item improved, so keeping a stock matters as much as having enough to forge with in the first place. Smelting grants no Smithing experience; only forging and tempering do.

Without the perk the material still tempers, at half rate.
