Konahrik is the golden dragon priest mask, the last and rarest of the masks in Skyrim. It is a heavy armor helmet that tries to save its wearer when health runs low. It waits on the dragon priest shrine in Bromjunaar Sanctuary at Labyrinthian, and it can be claimed only after the main quest ends and the other eight masks are placed there.
The name Konahrik means "Warlord" in the dragon language. Konahrik is the only mask with no dragon priest of the same name. No priest wears it and no boss guards it. The shrine itself gives it up as a reward for gathering the whole set.
Konahrik and Miraak are the only two masks with a design of their own. The other masks share one shape in different metals. Konahrik is made of gold, which is also the metal used to temper it.
Armor Enchantment
When the wearer is hit below 15% Health, there is a 15% chance to cast Grand Healing and a Flame Cloak. With a 3% chance, it also summons a Spectral Dragon Priest to fight alongside the wearer.
The Enchantment Effects page lists every armor enchantment.

How It Plays
Konahrik works only in a crisis. The enchantment, named Konahrik's Privilege, wakes up when the wearer is hit while below 15% Health. Each such hit has a 15% chance to fire the main effect. A blast throws back nearby enemies and loose objects. The wearer then gains a Flame Cloak and casts Grand Healing at once.
A rarer roll does even more. On a 3% chance, the same burst also summons a Spectral Dragon Priest for 60 seconds. The priest is a strong caster. It throws Destruction spells and can call a Storm Atronach of its own. When its time runs out, it vanishes in a cloud of black smoke.
Because the effect is a chance on each hit, it grows more reliable the longer a fight stays desperate. A tough character who can take several blows at low health gives the mask many rolls. A fragile mage who dies to one blow may never see it fire. High armor, a good block and Health enchantments all make the mask stronger.
Konahrik suits a heavy armor warrior best. It counts as a heavy armor helmet for every perk in the Heavy Armor Skill tree. A mage in cloth robes gains less from it, because the mask breaks the Mage Armor perk like any other armor piece.
Perks and Builds
The Heavy Armor Skill tree carries the build. Juggernaut raises the armor rating of every heavy piece. Well Fitted adds a large armor bonus when head, chest, hands and feet are all heavy armor, and the mask fills the head slot for that perk. Conditioning removes the weight of worn heavy armor. That perk lets a warrior wear the mask and a full plate set without slowing down.
Restoration pairs well with the mask. The Avoid Death perk heals the wearer once a day when health falls very low. Konahrik covers the same danger again and again, with no daily limit. Together they give a warrior two separate safety nets for the moment a fight turns bad.
The Flame Cloak from the mask burns enemies who stand close. A melee build that fights in the middle of a crowd gains the most from it. The cloak and the knockback blast together often clear space for a warrior to stand up and drink a potion.
Compared with Other Masks
Konahrik has the highest base armor of any helmet in the base game. It beats even the Daedric Helmet. With the Dragonborn DLC, the mask Miraak overtakes it once the character is high enough in level. Miraak raises Magicka instead, so the two masks still suit very different builds.
Nahkriin and Morokei are the mage choices among the priest masks. Nahkriin adds Magicka and lowers the cost of Destruction and Restoration spells. Morokei doubles the speed of Magicka regeneration. Both help in every fight, while Konahrik helps only at low health.
Otar resists fire, frost and shock at the same time. Hevnoraak makes the wearer immune to disease and poison. Rahgot adds a large pool of Stamina for a warrior who power attacks or sprints often. Each of these masks gives a steady bonus. Konahrik trades that steady bonus for a last line of defense.
Bromjunaar Sanctuary
Labyrinthian is the ruin of Bromjunaar, the old seat of the Dragon Cult in Skyrim. A round ruined building stands near the entrance to the ruins. Inside lie a skeleton, a note and the Wooden Mask. Putting the Wooden Mask on inside that building sends the wearer back in time to the sanctuary before its fall.
The restored room holds a shrine with eight busts of dragon priests. Each bust takes the mask of its own priest. Hevnoraak sleeps in Valthume, Krosis in Shearpoint and Morokei in Labyrinthian itself. Nahkriin waits in Skuldafn, Otar in Ragnvald and Rahgot in Forelhost. Vokun guards High Gate Ruins, and Volsung guards Volskygge. When all eight masks sit on their busts, the shrine reveals Konahrik. Taking the Wooden Mask off returns the wearer to the present.
Two masks set the pace of the hunt. Morokei lies deep in Labyrinthian, and the inner ruin opens only during The Staff of Magnus, a quest of the College of Winterhold. Nahkriin guards Skuldafn, which is reached only during the main quest. There is no way back to Skuldafn until Alduin is defeated, so Nahkriin must be taken on that visit. Selling any of the eight masks to a merchant also locks Konahrik away for good.
Lore
A loading screen of the game gives the legend of the masks. It says that the highest ranking Dragon Priests were granted magical masks. These masks are called strange artifacts that defy the laws of time and grant powerful enchantments. The Wooden Mask, which carries its wearer into the past, makes that legend literal.
The Dragon Priests served the dragons and ruled the old Nords in their name. Bromjunaar was the capital of the Dragon Cult in Skyrim. The shrine of busts shows the eight priests in their place of honor, while Konahrik, the Warlord, sits above them all.
Bugs
Placing a mask on its bust removes any tempering done at a workbench. The mask that comes back is a fresh copy. Temper the masks only after Konahrik is claimed.
Dragon priest masks share their equipment slot with circlets. As a result, a few helmets that should block a mask can be worn together with one. The Jagged Crown, the Falmer helmets and the Ancient Shrouded Cowl are known cases.
Gameplay Tips
- Temper it at a workbench with one Gold Ingot. The Daedric Smithing perk doubles the improvement, and the Arcane Blacksmith perk is needed.
- The shrine needs Nahkriin, which can be taken only during the main quest at Skuldafn. Take that mask there, or Konahrik stays out of reach.
- The other masks can be taken back from the shrine once Konahrik is claimed.
Smithing Guide
Enchanted weapons require the Arcane Blacksmith Perk to upgrade.
Upgrades
Konahrik is improved at a workbench with one Gold Ingot per improvement. The Daedric Smithing perk doubles the improvement, so each quality tier needs less Smithing skill. An enchanted copy can only be improved with the Arcane Blacksmith perk.
