Forged in the Ashlands from Flametal and a Bloodstone looted from a Charred Fortress, the Brutal Slayer turns the Slayer greatsword into a weapon that hits harder the closer you are to death. It deals 170 slash damage. At 170 total damage it ranks 3rd among swords, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.
How to Craft
It is made at a level 4 Black Forge from:
- 1x Slayer, made at a Black Forge.
- 15x Flametal, smelted from Flametal Ore in a Blast Furnace.
- 1x Bloodstone, found in the Charred Fortresses of the Ashlands.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slayer | Ashlands | Black Forge | spawn THSwordSlayer
| |
| Flametal | Ashlands | Blast Furnace | spawn FlametalNew

| Bloodstone | Ashlands | - | spawn GemstoneRed
|
When to Use It
It is a late-game weapon. Flametal comes from the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes.
Upgrades
It can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station one level higher than the last. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this table shows the full upgrade path your own copy is on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black forge (Level 4) | 170 | 200 |

Properties
This is the two-handed way of fighting hurt. Bloodstone adds 0.2% damage per point of missing health, on top of the biggest slash number in the class. Being 100 health down turns 170 slash into roughly 204.
You have no shield to fall back on. That is the difference from Nidhögg the Bleeding, which runs the same gem on a one-hander. Here the reward for being low comes with blocking on the sword's own 64 armour and no parry, so it wants the dodge roll, not the guard.
Notes
- Bloodstone counts your missing health in points, not as a percentage, so a bigger health pool from food makes the bonus easier to reach rather than diluting it.
