The Slayer is a sword in Valheim, dealing 170 slash. At 170 total damage it is 4th of the 15 swords, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.

How to Craft

Crafted at Black forge, station level 3.
Costs 30x Flametal, 5x Asksvin hide, 3x Morgen sinew at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Ashlands biome.

When to Use It

Late game. Flametal is in the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes and, until 1.0, the hardest biome in the game.

Upgrades

Properties

170 slash, the highest in the class. Two-handed, 20 stamina a swing, 64 block armour if you are blocking on the sword itself, and 20 more slash than Krom at the cost of a higher forge.

Choose the gemstone before you climb the ladder. Fitting a gemstone does not carry the quality level over: a quality 4 Slayer re-forged into a variant comes back at quality 1, and the whole ladder is paid again. The 3 it becomes are Brutal (Bloodstone), Scourging (Iolite) and Primal (Jade).

Notes

The primary arcs are vertical and wide, and the third hit of the combo is the narrow one. The secondary is a long thrust that outreaches most enemies.
