Echo Spike is a blood magic staff from the Deep North. Its projectile flies out, bounces off the first solid thing it meets and comes back, burning and freezing what it passes through on the return.
How to Craft
You craft it in a frost foundry from:
- 1x Cast: Echo Spike: Pour it at a level 3 galdr table from bloodgold, nornathread, frostfire essence and its mould.
- 5x Liquid Frost: Freeze it down from ice in a frigid kiln.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cast: Echo Spike | Deep North | Galdr Table | spawn StaffOrbofAhriUncooked
| |
| Liquid Frost | Deep North | Frigid Kiln | spawn FrozenFuel

Mould
You can find the Mould: Echo Spike in the Deep North:
- Smash it out of the trash piles in the winding tunnels.
- Look in the chests at memorial sites.
- On the weapon stands of the last floor of Mörkhalla.
When to Use It
This is end game gear. You can only progress through the Deep North once Fader is dead.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it twice at the galdr table. Each step needs the station one level higher than the last, and the first costs the per-level amount, the second twice that. Quality 4 costs four times the per-level amount and needs a level 6 galdr table, above its current maximum of 5, so that row is not yet available.
| Quality | Crafting Station | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Frost Foundry | 400 |
|
| 2 | Galdr Table (Level 4) | 450 |
|
| 3 | Galdr Table (Level 5) | 500 |
|
| 4 | Galdr Table (Level 6, not yet available) | 550 |

Properties
On the way out, the bolt passes through creatures and deals no damage. It bounces off terrain or a structure, or after four seconds in the air, and the bounce bursts for 60 fire and 60 frost. It then comes back along the same line and touches each creature only once, dealing 50 fire and 50 frost on a direct hit plus 60 of each to everything within 2.4 metres. It bounces only once and stops at the next solid thing, so on rough ground it can stop the moment it turns.
Each cast costs 25 eitr, and the Blood Magic skill lowers that by up to a third, to 16.75 at level 100. If the returning bolt passes through you, it does you no harm and gives back 10 eitr. A cast whose bolt comes back through you therefore costs a net 15 eitr, or less with the Blood Magic skill.
Like all Deep North staves, you cast it at a level 3 galdr table and harden it in a frost foundry. You repair it at the galdr table and upgrade it there, from level 4 for quality 2 up to level 6 for quality 4. The galdr table only reaches level 5, so in practice it stops at quality 3, and the Forge of Potential takes it further with a bloodgold battle idol. You move 5% slower while it is in your hands.
It has two chances to hit. A direct hit deals 50 fire and 50 frost, plus 60 of each to everything within 2.4 metres. The bounce itself bursts for 60 fire and 60 frost, and that burst can hit you too.
It turns round on its own. If it hits nothing, the projectile bounces after four seconds. It bounces only once and stops at the next solid thing.
You move 5% slower while it is in your hands.
It weighs 0.3 and has 400 durability, or 500 at quality 3.
Quality 4 needs a level 6 galdr table, above its current maximum of 5, so in practice it stops at quality 3.
Crafting it from scratch and taking it to quality 3 costs 25 bloodgold, 10 nornathread and 4 frostfire essence, plus a mould and 5 liquid frost.
Notes
- Its damage does not scale with upgrades the way a melee weapon's does. The upgrades add durability instead.
- Past its last quality level, the Forge of Potential can push it further with a bloodgold battle idol.
