Nornathread's delicate strands are spun from the power of the world tree itself, and they carry the magic of the Deep North. You need it for the whole Caller set, the staves, the Cape of the Caller and the Witch Crown, and the standing loom is built with it. It drops only from Hexen, weighs half a unit and stacks to 50.

How to Get It

A Hexen drops one or two threads, or two to four at one star. Hexen fly the halls of Mörkhalla and arrive with every Jotun invasion. Once the first Krigen or Hexen in the world is dead, they also patrol the open Deep North by day.

She fights from the air. Her magic blast hits for 120 lightning from five to twenty metres, and her lightning bolt bursts for 110 lightning within three metres of where it lands, each on a three-second cooldown. Her dodge is an area attack of 150 slash. She has 800 health, or 1,600 at one star. She is weak to fire, barely feels frost and ignores poison and spirit.

Hexen drop more than thread: each of the three Caller moulds one time in twenty, a finished Intricate Key one time in ten, and the Hexen Trophy one time in ten.

• The Caller pieces, the staves and the cape are made at the Galdr Table, which only reaches level 5. That stops the pieces and staves at quality 3 and the Cape of the Caller at quality 2.

Nornathread Crafting Recipes

Making everything once takes 39 threads. Upgrades take far more: at full quality the Caller robes and trousers take 14 each, the headdress 9, each staff 10 or 11 and the cape 3. The Witch Crown takes 5 and is never upgraded. Fully equipping a mage runs to about 88 threads, which means farming some 60 Hexen.

The staves it makes cover every kind of magic the north has. Lightning Strike calls down 300 lightning within three metres for 40 eitr. Echo Spike throws a bolt that bounces back, burning and freezing. Northern Vengeance wraps you and your allies in spheres that answer every hit with a frost bolt, and Spirit Caller summons spirit bears, moose, wolves and boars. The Witch Crown, a trinket made with a Hexen Trophy, gives you 50 stamina and 50 eitr at once when its 60 adrenaline fills.
