Birch and Oak will not fall to a Flint Axe, so the Finewood Bow waits on bronze, and on the copper and tin you mine in the Black Forest. It deals 32 pierce damage. At 32 total damage it ranks 8th among bows, a step up the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts the Troll more than most things, and that is what to carry it for.
How to Craft
Crafted at a level 1 workbench from:
- 10x Finewood: Chopped from Birch and Oak trees with a Bronze Axe or better.
- 10x Corewood: Chopped from Pine trees in the Black Forest.
- 2x Deer Hide: Dropped by Deer.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finewood | Meadows | - | spawn FineWood

| Corewood | Black Forest | - | spawn RoundLog

| Deer Hide | Meadows | - | spawn DeerHide

When to Use It
Early game. It needs Black Forest materials, so it comes after Eikthyr and the Antler Pickaxe.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every stat quoted elsewhere on this page is for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Pierce | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Workbench (Level 1) | 32 | 100 | |
| 2 | Workbench (Level 2) | 35 | 150 | |
| 3 | Workbench (Level 3) | 38 | 200 | |
| 4 | Workbench (Level 4) | 41 | 250 |
Properties
It deals 32 pierce, and it actually hits what you aim at. Fixing the poor accuracy of the Crude Bow is the real reason to make it, more than the 10 extra damage.
Finewood comes from Birch and Oak trees, which need a Bronze Axe to fell, so this bow arrives with the Black Forest rather than before it.
The arrow does most of the work. Ammunition damage is added to the bow's own damage before every other multiplier. Switching arrows changes more than moving up a bow tier, and the arrow is where a bow build gets its damage type.
Notes
- Hold the primary attack to draw the bow, which raises accuracy and damage until you release; blocking cancels the draw and keeps the arrow.
- Draw time is 2.5 seconds at skill 0 and 0.5 at skill 100, but a bow can only fire once every 0.8 seconds, a cap you reach at about skill 85.
- Arrow damage is added to the bow's base damage before any other calculation, so the arrow gains from skill and quality too.
