Flametal Helmet needs a Black Forge and flametal from the veins of the Ashlands, and it is built for standing in front of a Morgen rather than dodging one. It has 38 armour, or 44 fully upgraded, and no helmet in the game has more. Wear it with the rest of the Flametal Armor set and your armour rating reaches 114, enough to turn a 100-damage hit into 22.

How to Craft

Craft it at a level 3 Black Forge with:

Name Image Biome Crafting Station Spawn ID
Flametal Flametal Ashlands Blast Furnace spawn FlametalNew
Asksvin Hide Asksvin Hide Ashlands - spawn AskHide
Charred Bone Charred Bone Ashlands - spawn CharredBone
Refined Eitr Refined Eitr Mistlands Eitr Refinery spawn Eitr

When to Use It

This is late-game gear. Flametal comes from the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes.

Upgrades

You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. All other figures on this page are for quality 1, so use this table to see where your own copy sits:

Quality Crafting Station Armor Resources
1 Black forge (Level 3) 38
2 Black forge (Level 4) 40
3 Black forge (Level 5) 42
4 Black forge (Level 6) 44

Notes

  • Armor lowers physical, fire, frost and lightning damage, but poison and spirit damage go straight through it.
  • While your armor is less than half of a hit's damage, it is simply subtracted from the hit. Once it reaches half the damage or more, the damage taken becomes the damage squared divided by four times your armor, so doubling your armor halves the damage you take.
  • Your armor rating is the total of the helmet, chest, leg and cape pieces you wear.
