The Frost Arrow is a piece of ammunition in Valheim, dealing 26 pierce and 52 frost. At 78 total damage it is 6th of the 26 ammunition, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Frost damage hurts Blob, Oozer and Serpent more than most things, which is what to carry it for.

How to Craft

Crafted at Workbench, station level 4.
Costs 8x Wood, 4x Obsidian, 2x Feathers, 1x Freeze gland at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Mountain biome.

When to Use It

Mid game. Silver is under the Mountain snow and needs a Wishbone to find, so this follows Bonemass.

Properties

The split is inverted: 52 frost against 26 pierce. Most arrows are pierce with a garnish; this one is frost with a pierce garnish, which matters because pierce is the most resisted type in the game and frost is not.

And frost slows. Frost cuts movement and turn speed, so a hit buys distance as well as damage. On a bow, which is the one weapon that wants distance, that compounds.

Notes

Ammunition damage is added to the weapon's base damage before any other calculation, which is why the arrow and not the bow decides a shot's damage type.
Arrows are fired by bows and bolts by crossbows; the 2 are not interchangeable.
With more than one kind in the inventory, right-clicking the stack selects which is used.
