The Crow is scenery with a loot table. It is the small black bird that clatters up out of the pines as you push through the Black Forest, black all over down to its legs and feet, and it has exactly one point of health. It will never kill you, but plenty of Vikings have wasted ten minutes and six arrows trying to hit one.
Behaviour
It is completely passive and never attacks, calls for help or defends itself. It perches on branches, stumps and boulders, hops about on the ground picking at the dirt, and takes off in a short, startled burst when you get too close, gliding to another perch a little further away. That skittishness is the only challenge it offers. With one point of health any hit kills it instantly, so the hard part is hitting something small and quick that usually sits above your eye line. Physics passes it by as well: a felled tree rolling downhill goes straight through a crow without hurting it. You cannot tame it, breed it or have it follow you.
Where to Find It
Crows spawn in the Black Forest wherever the pines are thick enough to perch in, and you will usually hear one before you see it. They are common background life, so you will pass several on any decent trek, though you rarely notice them until you need feathers. Crows appear day or night, never come with stars, and need no structure, boss kill or event to spawn, which makes the Crow one of the few creatures in the game with no conditions attached. It is simply part of the forest, and it will still be there long after the forest has stopped being dangerous to you.
Strengths and Weaknesses
This is a hunt, not a fight. With one point of health, your weapon's damage does not matter at all, so use the cheapest thing you own: a flint arrow, a wooden arrow or a thrown spear, and never waste anything better on it. Blocking, parrying and dodging are pointless here, and so is armour, since the bird cannot hurt you. The only real skill is leading a moving target, so wait for it to settle on a perch and shoot from a standstill rather than trying to snap-shoot one in flight. Early on, when pierce damage keeps you alive and feathers gate every arrow you make, a crow is worth the arrow it costs. Once you keep hens at home, it stops being worth the stop.
Drops
It drops three feathers, which is three arrows you did not have, and nothing else worth the detour.

Notes
- Loose tree logs roll right through crows without damaging them at all.
