Northern Vengeance is a blood magic staff from the Deep North. It wraps you and every ally within five metres in a vengeance sphere, and anyone who hits a protected player gets a frost bolt straight back.
How to Craft
You make it in a Frost Foundry from:
- 1x Cast: Northern Vengeance: poured at a level 3 Galdr Table from Ice, Nornathread, a Hexen Trophy and its mould.
- 5x Liquid Frost: frozen down from Ice in a Frigid Kiln.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cast: Northern Vengeance | Deep North | Galdr Table | spawn StaffFrostOrbsUncooked

| Liquid Frost | Deep North | Frigid Kiln | spawn FrozenFuel

Mould
You find the Mould: Northern Vengeance in the Deep North:
- It drops from the trash piles you smash in the Winding Tunnels.
- It lies in the buried chests at Memorial Sites.
- It sits on the weapon stands on the last floor of Mörkhalla.
When to Use It
This is end-game gear: you can only progress through the Deep North once Fader is dead.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it twice at the Galdr Table. Each step needs the station one level higher than the last: the first costs the per-level amount and the second costs twice that. Quality 4 would cost four times the per-level amount, but it needs a level 6 Galdr Table, above the table's current maximum of 5, so that row is not yet available.
| Quality | Crafting Station | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Frost Foundry | 400 | |
| 2 | Galdr Table (Level 4) | 450 |
|
| 3 | Galdr Table (Level 5) | 500 |
|
| 4 | Galdr Table (Level 6, not yet available) | 550 |

Properties
Casting it puts a vengeance sphere on you and every ally within five metres for 60 seconds per staff level, so a quality 3 staff keeps it up for three minutes. Each cast costs 100 eitr and 40% of your current health. Because that is a share of what you have left, it can never kill you.
Whenever someone wearing a sphere is hit, the sphere sends a frost bolt back at the attacker for a fixed amount of damage. It absorbs nothing: you take the full blow, and the attacker pays for it.
Like all Deep North staves, its cast is poured at a level 3 Galdr Table and hardened in a Frost Foundry. You repair it at the Galdr Table and upgrade it there too, from level 4 for quality 2 up to level 6 for quality 4. The Galdr Table only reaches level 5, so in practice it stops at quality 3, and the Forge of Potential takes it further with a Bloodgold Battle Idol. While it is in your hands you move 5% slower.
It is about revenge, not protection. Unlike the Staff of Protection, the sphere absorbs nothing: you take the full hit, and the attacker takes a fixed amount of frost damage in return.
The sphere lasts one minute per staff level. Each cast costs 100 eitr and 40% of your current health.
It gives -5% movement speed while it is in your hands.
It weighs 0.3 and has 400 durability, rising to 500 at quality 3.
Because quality 4 needs a level 6 Galdr Table, above the table's current maximum of 5, it stops at quality 3 in practice.
Crafting it from scratch and taking it to quality 3 costs 25 Ice, 11 Nornathread and 1 Hexen Trophy, plus a mould and 5 Liquid Frost.
Notes
- The cast is poured from ten Ice, five Nornathread, a Hexen Trophy and the mould.
- Once it reaches its last quality level, the Forge of Potential can push it further with a Bloodgold Battle Idol.
