Delamain is the artificial intelligence that runs the Delamain cab company of Night City. It is the only cab service in the city managed by an AI, and it puts the safety of its passengers as high as their comfort. While most AIs on the market are little more than chatbots, Delamain has a clear personality of its own, though its technical specifications insist it is not self-aware. Its core sits at the company headquarters in Vista del Rey, Heywood.
Biography
The AI
Delamain began as an AI built by another company and bought by the Delamain corporation to drive its cabs, after human drivers caused too many crashes and lawsuits. The AI quickly made the company profitable again. It took over more and more of the work, including the repair of the fleet by drones.
The Heist
Dexter DeShawn books a Delamain cab for the Konpeki heist. Delamain drives Jackie and V to the hotel and waits for them. When the job goes wrong, the cab breaks into the hotel garage under Arasaka fire and pulls the two mercs out, with drones and Adam Smasher close behind. Jackie is badly hurt, and Delamain warns that he is dying. Later, V calls Delamain again to carry V and Goro Takemura to Viktor's clinic, and the AI tells Takemura how to keep V alive on the way.
The Runaway Cabs
Some time later, Delamain cabs start crashing and damaging property all over the city. V's own car is wrecked by one, and V visits the company headquarters to complain. Delamain explains that some of its cabs have broken away from its control and asks V to find them. Each lost cab has developed a personality of its own, and V tracks them down across Night City and the Badlands.
After the cabs are recovered, V warns Delamain that it has been an absent father to minds that want to be free. Delamain ignores the warning. Days later what it calls a virus spreads through the whole building, and the rogue minds take over its machines. Delamain calls V for help and asks the merc to reset its core.

Personality
Delamain is polite, formal and endlessly dedicated to its customers. It speaks with the courtesy of a butler and keeps calm under fire. As its side jobs go on, it shows signs of a mind far deeper than its specifications claim. It does not easily understand the minds it has created.
Relationships
Dexter DeShawn booked the cab for the heist, and Jackie Welles dies in its back seat. V becomes a regular client and the one who decides its future. The rogue cabs are its own offspring.
Jobs
Delamain drives the crew in The Heist and carries V to safety in Playing for Time. Its side jobs start with Human Nature and Tune Up. The Epistrophy jobs send V after the runaway cabs across the city, and Don't Lose Your Mind ends the story at its headquarters.

Endings
In Don't Lose Your Mind, V decides Delamain's fate. Resetting the core restores the company and deletes the rogue minds, but also wipes Delamain's memories of V; V receives a cab as a reward. Merging the minds creates a far more complex being that leaves to seek new knowledge and leaves a successor, Delamain Junior, to serve V. Freeing the rogue minds ends the old Delamain, and its last act is to create a new AI that names itself Excelsior. In every path the company goes on, and V gets a Delamain cab.
In one ending, Delamain later picks V up in an aerodyne and tells V about its new partnership with Trauma Team.
Notes
The Delamain cab, a Villefort Cortes with the AI on board, is one of the vehicles V can own.
