The Heist is the main job that closes the first act of Cyberpunk 2077. V and Jackie Welles break into Konpeki Plaza, Arasaka's luxury hotel on the Arasaka Waterfront, to steal an experimental biochip called the Relic for the fixer Dexter DeShawn. The job starts at the Afterlife in Little China once The Pickup and The Information are done. Nothing goes to plan, and the night changes V's life for good.

Story

The Afterlife

With the Flathead bot bought from Maelstrom and the plan learned from Evelyn Parker, V is ready for the job Dexter DeShawn hired the crew to do. V meets Jackie outside the Afterlife, the most famous merc bar in Night City. Jackie sees the meeting place as a good sign: the journal says that the Afterlife is the one door worth opening in Night City, and that people step aside for anyone who walks through it. The bouncer lets them in, and they wait at the bar with Claire Russell until Dex's bodyguard Oleg calls them over.

The Briefing

Dex and the netrunner T-Bug wait in a private booth at the back. V puts the Flathead in its case and answers Dex's questions about Evelyn. A shard on the table lays out the plan. V and Jackie will check into Konpeki Plaza as Militech agents, the Flathead will sneak through the vents to the hotel's netrunner, and T-Bug will open the way to Yorinobu Arasaka's penthouse. Jackie then raises the question of money, and Dex names the crew's share.

Konpeki Plaza

Delamain, the AI that runs a taxi company, drives V and Jackie to the hotel and checks their false identities on the way. The two pass the scanner and check in at reception, while T-Bug helps them through from the net. In their room, the Flathead creeps through the vents and past the housekeeping staff until it reaches the hotel's netrunner and hacks him. T-Bug needs a few hours to break the hotel's security, so the crew waits until night.

The Penthouse

A lift takes V and Jackie straight to the penthouse. They open the safe and take the Relic, but unexpected guests arrive in flying cars, and Yorinobu is heading up fast. V and Jackie hide behind the screen in the living room. From there they watch Yorinobu arrive with Adam Smasher, followed by his father Saburo Arasaka and Saburo's bodyguard Goro Takemura. Father and son send their bodyguards away and argue. Yorinobu strangles Saburo to death, then puts the hotel under lockdown and claims that someone poisoned his father.

The Escape

The lifts are out, so T-Bug directs the pair to a ladder outside the balcony. Just as she opens the doors, Arasaka's defences find her in the net and burn out her brain. V and Jackie cross a narrow ledge around the building and fight their way down through the hotel. Jackie is badly wounded along the way.

Delamain picks them up under fire. Arasaka sends Adam Smasher after the cab with drones, and V has to shoot them down. When the cab finally gets clear, Jackie hands the Relic to V and dies of his wounds in the back seat. In the journal he says that it is not a bad way for a Welles to go, and he asks V to cut a good deal with Dex in his memory.

The No-Tell Motel

V meets Dex at the No-Tell Motel in Kabuki. The murder of Saburo Arasaka is all over the news, and Dex is furious. He agrees that V should leave Night City and sends V to wash the blood off. When V comes out of the bathroom, Dex's bodyguard knocks V down and Dex shoots V in the head. The story continues in Love Like Fire.

The Afterlife

Go to the Afterlife in Little China and talk to Jackie outside.
Follow Jackie and talk to the bouncer. Every answer gets the pair inside.
Sit next to Jackie at the bar and talk to him and to Claire, the bartender.
Get up when Dex's bodyguard Oleg calls, and follow him to the booth at the back.
Join Dex and T-Bug in the booth. Put the Flathead in the briefcase.
Slot the shard on the table to see the plan, ask any questions, and agree on the pay.
Talk to T-Bug after Dex leaves if desired, then tell Jackie that V is ready.

Konpeki Plaza

Take the Militech suit and put it on, then get into Delamain's cab.
Ride to Konpeki Plaza and stash all weapons before getting out.
Wait for Jackie to take the Flathead, then follow him through the scanner.
Check in at reception and place a hand on the panel. Stall the receptionist when T-Bug asks, or let T-Bug handle her.
Visit the hotel bar on the ground floor if desired, then take the lift to the 42nd floor.
Go to the room and talk to T-Bug.

The Flathead

Scan the room for an entry point for the Flathead. It sits in the corner between the terrarium and the window.
Take the control shard and wait for T-Bug to link V to the hotel cameras.
Scan each room for a way into the vents, then send the Flathead to open the grates.
Order the Flathead to the terrarium to distract the housekeeping staff, then send it into the vent once they move.
Use the cameras to find the CCTV access point in the netrunner's room, and scan for a grate in the floor.
Hack the netrunner with the Flathead.
Talk to Jackie and T-Bug, then sit down to wait until night.

The Penthouse

Take the lift to Yorinobu's penthouse and follow Jackie.
Go to the safe, scan for the hidden switch and use it.
Use V's personal link on the safe and wait for T-Bug to hack it.
Wait for Jackie to check the Relic, then follow him.
Grab the Kongou pistol from the bedside table while the penthouse is open.
Hide behind the screen when Yorinobu arrives, and watch the scene play out.

The Escape

Go to the balcony when T-Bug opens the doors.
Take the Nehan knife from Saburo's body on the way out.
Fight the two guards by the flying car on the roof if desired. The Satori sword and some loot are inside it.
Cross the narrow ledge around the building.
Fight or sneak through the floors below. The first lift needs an access token.
Take the token from the officer near the second lift, either lethally or not.
Ride the lift down, then deal with the guards in the lobby. A combat robot joins if the alarm is raised.
Take the lift at the entrance down to Delamain and get into the cab.
Shoot down the Arasaka drones that chase the cab.
Choose where Delamain sends Jackie's body.
Meet Dex in the No-Tell Motel and go to the bathroom when he asks.

Choices

The Pay

Dex offers V and Jackie a smaller share as new talent. V can push for a bigger share by saying they deserve more, or by saying the job is about more than money: being remembered, the challenge itself, or, for a Corpo V, revenge on Arasaka. Telling Dex that Evelyn Parker planned to cut him out of the deal raises the share at once.

The Receptionist

At reception, V can stall the receptionist with the right answers. A Corpo V can also bully her with corporate talk. If V says nothing, T-Bug steps in and fools the receptionist herself.

The Escape

The way down through the hotel can be fought or sneaked. The officer who carries the lift token can be killed or knocked out.

Jackie's Body

After Jackie dies, Delamain asks where to send his body. V can send it to his mother, Mama Welles, or to Viktor Vektor's clinic. Sending it home to Mama Welles opens the side job Heroes, Jackie's ofrenda at El Coyote Cojo. After that ofrenda, his two golden pistols, La Chingona Dorada, can be taken from the shrine.

Rewards

Completing The Heist rewards Relic, Kongou (missable), Satori (missable), Nehan (missable) and Iguana Egg (memorabilia, missable).

The penthouse and the roof hold three Iconic weapons. Kongou, a power pistol, lies on a bedside table in the penthouse. Nehan, a knife, is looted from Saburo's body. Satori, a katana, sits inside the flying car on the helipad. To reach the car, wait for T-Bug to unlock the doors, then go up the stairs near the iguana in the corner.

An iguana egg lies behind a log in the penthouse. After Playing for Time, it can be placed in a bowl in V's apartment, where it hatches into a pet iguana.

Notes

The penthouse, the roof and the rest of the hotel can only be visited during this job. The Iconic weapons and the iguana egg are lost if they are not taken.
