The Ash of War: Savage Lion's Claw is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Heavy affinity and the Savage Lion's Claw skill. It comes from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Savage Lion's Claw is a reckless Redmane technique: the wielder somersaults forward and slams the weapon down, and an additional input adds a backflip strike followed by a second crushing slam. All three hits together deal far more damage than the regular Lion's Claw and come out faster, with super armor through the motion. The full combo deals very high stance damage on heavy weapons. It suits Strength builds with greatswords, colossal weapons and hammers.
Stats
It grants the Heavy affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood or Occult. The skill costs 20 FP. It fits Straight Sword, Light Greatsword, Greatsword, Colossal Sword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana, Great Katana, Twinblade, Axe, Greataxe, Hammer, Flail, Great Hammer and Colossal Weapon.
How to Get Ash of War: Savage Lion's Claw Guide
- Found in a small camp in the Gravesite Plain, northwest of the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace and directly west of Run-Down Traveler's Rest.
- Following the cliff wall north from the grace leads straight to it.
- Once obtained, it can be duplicated by trading Lost Ashes of War to Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

Skill
The first somersault alone is a solid punish, while the follow-up roughly doubles the damage at a heavy stamina cost, so it should be saved for staggered or slow targets. The skill cannot be parried. In player fights, the first slam catches rolls and can bait opponents into the follow-up.
