The Rusted Anchor is a Greataxe in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Limgrave, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Why Players Pick It

The only Pierce-type Greataxe, which means it can perform thrusting counterattacks on a guard counter where the rest of the class cannot. 147 base physical with C Str at +0: the highest base of any sub-30-Str Greataxe, at 26 Str / 9 Dex. Lists 360 max standard and 176 Sta. Dropped by the Scaly Misbegotten in Morne Tunnel, very early.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at C and Dex at E, so Str is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 26 and Dex 9 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

A rusty anchor wielded as a weapon. Each of its four flukes is thick and sharp, enabling piercing attacks. When the Tarnished left the Lands Between with their Lord, one boat alone was said to have been left behind.
