The Blasphemous Blade is a Greatsword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

Heals 4% of max HP plus 40 flat on every enemy death simply by being held, whether or not this sword killed them, and Taker's Flames heals 10% of max HP plus 150 flat on hit. The skill deals pure fire damage and scales only with Faith. That sustain is why it dominates Faith/Str clear speed, not its attack rating (AR).

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Taker's Flames costs no FP. Raise the sacred sword aloft to set it ablaze with blasphemous flames, then bring it down to fire off a forward blast. The flames steal HP from those they touch. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

It scales with nothing, so the Str 22, Dex 15 and Fai 21 it asks for is all the investment it wants. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.

Notes

Sacred sword of Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. Remains of the countless heroes he has devoured writhe upon the surface of this blade. Now they share the same blood, bound together as family. Some HP is restored upon defeating an enemy.

Trade the Remembrance of the Blasphemous, dropped by Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, with Finger Reader Enia.
