The Cutthroat Set is an early ranger armour set for dagger fighters who strike from behind. In the game the pieces now carry the Cutthroat name. The Hunter crafts it, and bosses and chests in the Revelwood drop copies.

Pieces

The hood raises backstab damage, and the gloves add dagger damage. The trousers make sneaking much faster, so a fighter reaches an enemy's back unseen. The chest and boots add stamina for dodging away after the strike.

Levelling and Upgrades

Every piece starts at item level 10. Each upgrade at the Hunter costs Runes and adds one item level, more armour and one enhancement, such as extra stamina or a level of the Backstab Mastery skill. A crafted piece is rare and takes three upgrades, up to level 13. A legendary copy from loot takes five, up to level 15, and its last steps also cost Legendary Runes. The same role continues with the Fowler Set at level 15.

Lore

In the current game, the pieces carry the Cutthroat name, and their texts paint a woodland bandit. A darkened hood blends into the trees, and a red cloth over the mouth gives the look of an outlaw. The padded vest keeps the wearer warm through cold nights spent waiting for the moment to strike. Extra leather on the trousers guards against jagged rocks, rough tree bark and incoming arrows. Reinforced soles let the wearer skulk through the undergrowth and reach high lookouts quickly, ready for an ambush.
