Fort Kelvin

Fort Kelvin
Type Settlement
Region Springlands
Sub-region -

Fort Kelvin is a fortified town on the northern edge of the Springlands, close to Revelwood. It was once the last stronghold of peace, open to every refugee of the Elixir Wars. Then creatures began to dig up from beneath the town, and the Vukah overran it. The beastmen still hold the streets, the church and the tower. The town is the only place in the Springlands proper where the Vukah live. Several survivor quests lead here, including the rescue of the villager Hannah Reed.

Where to Find Fort Kelvin - Map Location

Fort Kelvin sits in the north of the Springlands, close to the Revelwood border. The Sacrificial Vukah Pit lies at the foot of the cliffs just east of the town. Elder's Night Sanctum is also a short way east, and Thornhold lies to the north-east. An Ancient Obelisk stands just to the north.

Quests

In Lunar New Year Plants, the trader Mei asks for the decorative plants she once sold to the townsfolk. All three plants are somewhere in Fort Kelvin, and they bloom again once placed in the base. The Farmer Assistant, Fenrig Mills, also sends players here in We, The Only Ones. He remembers the town as a safe place for travellers and hopes someone is still alive. The search ends with the rescue of Hannah Reed. She then asks for help to find her daughter Marianne, who left to study the Vukah before the raid.

Enemies

The Vukah are beastmen and the town's new masters. Their notes describe gods who grant strength in return for spilled blood. They are a good source of Animal Fur and Resin. Explosive puffballs grow around the town. Destroying them thins the Shroud for a while.

Chests

Most chests sit in the tower: one on each upper level and a silver chest in its basement. A second silver chest is reached through the basement of the fort. A third waits on the second floor of the church, reached with the Grappling Hook. One locked wooden chest hides in the cave on the east side. Reach it with the hook, a jump and a climb, and open it with a Lockpick. Deep in the sewers, behind a locked barred door, a silver chest holds the Brick-Timbered Block.

Lore Pages

The set Welcome To Fort Kelvin tells the town's fall. The sign at the entrance invites weary travellers to find Jakes in the market for stew and a dry cot. "The Earth Quakes", in the tower, reports unseen creatures burrowing up from below. In "The Vukah", inside the church, Jakes admits that the town has fallen to the beastmen. Jakes urges any reader to seek out their idols and claim their might.
