What's Inside

A Return Beacon is a glowing metal ball on a stand. Standing near it refills the Shroud timer to full. It also saves a respawn point, so after death the player returns to the last beacon or Flame Altar visited. Every Elixir Well has a beacon on the metal structure that leads down to its Shroud Root. Beacons also stand in Shroud-filled places such as Pikemead's Reach. The first beacon, past the caves after the Cinder Vault, unlocks the Workbench and Construction Hammer recipes.

Tips

Shroud trips are easiest when they are planned around the beacons. A beacon in the middle of a Shroud area acts as a safe point to refill the timer before going deeper. Marking each beacon on the map helps find the way back when the timer runs low. The Shroud Survival Flask and Shroud time food give extra minutes between beacons.

Notes

After logging out, the player comes back at the last save point visited. A Return Beacon counts as such a point. That makes it possible to break off a long run, such as a Hollow Halls dungeon, and return later at the same spot. Beacons are marked on the map once found.
