Skyrim:Dragon Armor Perk

Dragon Armor
Skill Requirement 100
Perk Requirement Daedric or Glass Smithing
Tempering Material Dragon Bone or Dragon Scales
Improvement Doubled
Perk ID 00052190

Dragon Armor is the final perk of the Smithing tree in Skyrim and the only one requiring skill level 100. It is also the only perk with two possible prerequisites: either Daedric Smithing on the heavy branch or Glass Smithing on the light one.

It unlocks two sets rather than one. Dragonplate is heavy armour, tempered with Dragon Bone, and Dragonscale is light, tempered with Dragon Scales. Both come from the same source: every dragon you kill leaves bones and scales behind, so the material cost is a question of how many dragons you have fought rather than how much you have mined.

The Best Light Armour In The Game

Dragonscale is the strongest light armour available, which is what makes the light branch worth finishing. On the heavy side the picture is less clear. Dragonplate rates below Daedric, so a heavy smith who already owns Daedric gains weight savings rather than protection.

With Dawnguard installed the perk description changes, and it additionally unlocks Dragonbone weapons, which outdamage everything else in the game including Daedric.
