The Abyssal Razor is a knife in Valheim, dealing 20 slash and 20 pierce. At 40 total damage it is 4th of the 7 knives, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts Troll more than most things, which is what to carry it for.

How to Craft

Crafted at Workbench, station level 2.
Costs 4x Finewood, 20x Chitin, 2x Leather scraps at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Black Forest biome.

When to Use It

Early game. It is gated on Black Forest materials, which means after Eikthyr and the Antler Pickaxe.

Upgrades

Properties

Iron-tier damage with no ore in it. 20 slash and 20 pierce, the same bracket as an iron weapon, out of a Workbench with no smelting and no crypt dive. The materials come off Leviathans in the Ocean instead.

So it skips a biome. A player who has sailed but not yet cleared the Swamp can carry Swamp-grade damage, which is unusual in a game that gates almost everything behind the boss in front of you.

Notes

The 6x applies to an enemy that has not noticed you, not to one attacking someone else, so it is a Sneaking mechanic rather than a positional one.
The primary combo lands 1x, 1x and then 2x, so the third hit is where the damage is, at 1.74 seconds for the whole thing.
Knockback of 10 on the primary is the lowest in the game, which keeps a target inside the combo instead of pushing it out of reach.
