The Abyssal Razor is a knife for players who would rather open a fight from behind than stand in front of it. Its Chitin is prised off a Leviathan drifting in the Ocean. It deals 20 slash and 20 pierce damage. That 40 total damage ranks 4th among knives, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts a Troll more than most things, which is what to carry it for.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 2 Workbench from:
- 4x Finewood: chopped from Birch and Oak trees with a Bronze Axe or better.
- 20x Chitin: mined from the Abyssal Barnacles on a Leviathan's back.
- 2x Leather Scraps: dropped by Boars and Bats, and dug out of Muddy Scrap Piles.

When to Use It
This is an early game weapon. It needs Black Forest materials, so you can make it once you have beaten Eikthyr and crafted the Antler Pickaxe.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station one step higher than the last. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits:

Properties
This knife gives you iron tier damage without any ore. Its 20 slash and 20 pierce put it in the same bracket as an iron weapon, yet it comes out of a Workbench with no smelting and no crypt dive. The materials come off Leviathans in the Ocean instead.
In effect it skips a biome. A player who has sailed but not yet cleared the Swamp can carry Swamp grade damage, which is unusual in a game that locks almost everything behind the next boss.
Notes
- Its 6x sneak attack bonus only works on an enemy that has not noticed you. Hitting an enemy from behind while it is busy fighting someone else does not trigger it.
- The primary attack is a three-hit combo. The first two hits deal normal damage and the third deals double, and the whole combo takes 1.74 seconds.
- Knives have very little knockback, so the target stays within reach for the whole combo instead of being pushed away.
