The Bronze Sword is the first real blade in the game, and it costs you a trip into the Black Forest for copper and a walk along its shores for tin. It deals 35 slash damage. It is the weakest sword, and that is the point: it is the one you can make first.
How to Craft
It is made at a level 1 Forge from:
- 2x Wood, chopped from any tree.
- 8x Bronze, made at a Forge.
- 2x Leather Scraps, dropped by Boars and Bats and dug out of muddy scrap piles.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | All biomes | - | spawn Wood
| |
| Bronze | Black Forest | Forge | spawn Bronze

| Leather Scraps | Meadows | - | spawn LeatherScraps

When to Use It
It is an early-game weapon. It needs Black Forest materials, so it comes after Eikthyr and the Antler Pickaxe.
Upgrades
It can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station one level higher than the last. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this table shows the full upgrade path your own copy is on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forge (Level 1) | 35 | 200 |
|
| 2 | Forge (Level 2) | 41 | 250 |
|
| 3 | Forge (Level 3) | 47 | 300 |
|
| 4 | Forge (Level 4) | 53 | 350 |
|
Properties
It has the cheapest swing in the game: 8 stamina a hit, against 10 for an Iron Sword and 20 for any two-hander. Early on, with the Swords skill near zero and no food worth the name, that difference decides whether a fight with a Greydwarf pack ends with you still swinging or standing still.
It deals 35 slash and nothing else. That is fine where you get it, since almost nothing in the Meadows or the Black Forest resists slash. It stops working in the Swamp, where Blobs and Oozers shrug slash off and Skeletons call for blunt.
Notes
- It only needs a level 1 Forge, which makes it the first thing worth making after the Forge itself.
