The Iron Sword is a sword in Valheim, dealing 55 slash. At 55 total damage it is 14th of the 15 swords, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.

How to Craft

Crafted at Forge, station level 2.
Costs 2x Wood, 20x Iron, 3x Leather scraps at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Swamp biome.

When to Use It

Early game. Iron comes out of Sunken Crypts in the Swamp, so this arrives once The Elder is down.

Properties

A Forge upgrade comes first. Unlike the Bronze Sword this needs the Forge at level 2 before it can be made at all, so the cooler or the anvils are part of the recipe in practice.

57% more damage for 2 more stamina. 55 slash against bronze's 35, at 10 stamina against 8. It is the largest single jump in the class and it lands exactly when the Swamp starts asking questions.

Notes

Still pure slash, so the Sunken Crypts want a club in the other slot for the Skeletons.
