Haldor only puts one on his counter once Yagluth has fallen, and a single egg costs 1,500 coins. You get it from Haldor and from the Hen in the Meadows.
How to Get It
Buy your first egg from Haldor after Yagluth is dead, or find one in a chest in a sealed tower out in the Plains. To make the purchase pay for itself, drop that egg on its own, not in a stack, under a roof and beside a fire. After about half an hour it hatches into a chick that grows into a hen. A sheltered, well fed pair lays eggs of their own, so you only ever need to buy once.
