Most Tin Ore comes from a pickaxe. Tin deposits glint in plain sight along the shorelines of the Black Forest, and nothing but a pickaxe will break them.
How to Get It
The first tool that can mine it is the Antler Pickaxe, crafted at a Workbench from the Hard Antler that Eikthyr drops, so the first boss stands between you and the Bronze Age. Deposits are small dark rocks sitting half in the water along lakes and coasts, and each one breaks into several pieces of ore. The noise draws Greydwarves and the occasional Troll, so clear the area before you start swinging. The ore cannot be teleported, so haul it back to a Smelter by cart or boat.
Notes
- Like other metals, it can only be teleported with a Portal Stone.
- You can also find Tin Ore by breaking open Barrels near stone ruins in the Black Forest, so it is possible to find and smelt Tin before you have a pickaxe.
- Smelting it into Tin burns Coal. The Smelter uses one coal every 15 seconds and takes 30 seconds per bar, so every bar that comes out of the chute costs two coal. It holds 20 coal and 10 ore at a time, and it stops if the smoke above it has nowhere to go.
