Chests are not the only way to keep a hall organised. The Barrel holds twelve slots of goods in a round wooden cask that suits a cellar, a dock or a mead hall better than another square box, and you find it in the Storage part of the build menu. Unusually for something made of Wood, it does not rot when left out in the rain.
How to Build It
It costs ten Wood and one set of Barrel Hoops, built with a Workbench in range. The wood is free from any forest, but the hoops cannot be crafted and have to be bought from the trader Haldor in the Black Forest. The number of barrels you own really comes down to how many hoops you are willing to pay for. Because weather does it no harm, it is the one storage piece that can sit outdoors with no roof at all.
