The Black Flame Blade is a Godskin Apostle incantation in Elden Ring. It is available within the first few hours of a run.
Black Flame Blade is a black flame incantation of the Godskin Apostles, whose weighty black fire keeps sapping HP after it lands. It engulfs the weapon in the right hand with black flame for only a few seconds, adding fire damage and a short burn based on the target's maximum HP that refreshes with every hit. The duration is very short but the cast is quick, even straight out of other actions, so it is meant to be used right before attacking or mid-combo, and weapon skills can apply the burn too. As a weapon buff it gains nothing from the Godslayer's Seal, and the Old Lord's Talisman extends it slightly. It suits black flame spellblades who weave quick buffs into fast melee strings.
Effect
Engulfs the right-hand armament in black flame for 7 seconds; hits keep burning foes for a share of their maximum HP. Each cast costs 15 FP and 10 stamina and takes up one memory slot.
How to Get Black Flame Blade Guide
Black Flame Blade is sold for 6,000 runes by Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows once one of them is given the Godskin Prayerbook. If both die before either receives the prayerbook, it cannot be bought in that playthrough.
- Rest at the Rampart Tower Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle, go outside and jump onto the roof across from the door.
- Drop down from the roof to the steps that lead into a cellar guarded by rats.
- Use a Stonesword Key on the imp statue to clear the fog and open the chest holding the Godskin Prayerbook.
- Give the Godskin Prayerbook to Brother Corhyn at the Roundtable Hold or Miriel, Pastor of Vows at the Church of Vows.
- Buy Black Flame Blade from that teacher for 6,000 runes.
- If that teacher dies later, give their bell bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold to buy it there for the same price.
