The Bloodhound's Fang is a Curved Greatsword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Limgrave, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Why Players Pick It

Class-best jump attacks by a measurable margin: 2h jumping R2 at 151% motion value against the class standard 132%, and all four jumping attacks are elevated. Adds 55 hemorrhage buildup, upgrades with Somber Smithing Stones so it needs no stone farming, and drops from Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in Limgrave. 345 physical at max standard puts it fourth in class on raw attack rating (AR) while beating everything on the attacks people actually use.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Bloodhound's Finesse costs 8 / 12 FP. Slash upwards with the Bloodhound's Fang, using the momentum of the strike to perform a backwards somersault and gain some distance from foes. Follow up with a strong attack to perform the Bloodhound's Step attack. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at C, so Dex is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 18 and Dex 17 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round. It also causes blood loss buildup (55) on its own, with no infusion needed.

How to Get Bloodhound's Fang Guide

Dropped by Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave. Blaidd the Half-Wolf will direct the Tarnished here as part of his questline, and will be available for summoning in the Evergaol before awakening Darriwil after doing so.
