The Nightrider Flail is a Flail in Elden Ring. It carries the highest physical attack of any flail in the game.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Weeping Peninsula, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Why Players Pick It

Highest base physical in the class at 112 and the highest max-standard attack rating (AR) on at 281 with D Str / B Dex, plus 50 innate blood loss. Its own in-game description says the large spikes make it highly effective at inducing blood loss but demand higher dexterity, hence the 24 Dex requirement. Drops from the Weeping Peninsula Night's Cavalry near Castle Morne Rampart, which makes it obtainable very early for a Dex build.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E and Dex at C, so Dex is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 10 and Dex 24 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling. It also causes blood loss buildup (50) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

A flail with two additional bludgeoning heads. Weapon of the Night's Cavalry who ride funeral steeds. The large spikes make it highly effective at inducing blood loss, but also demand higher dexterity to wield.
